Cedar Haven is a wedding venue in East Sooke, Vancouver Island, Canada. 2017 was our first full year of magical weddings in the woods! Built with love by the family who has lived here for the past 24 years. Sarah and Bruce the owners of the property had their wedding here in 2000 so they are thrilled other people want to do the same. Cedar Haven was a vision born from a styled wedding shoot. We thought wow, other people might really love to get married here as well. The beautiful rain forest setting gives off some major twilight vibes.. OR game of thrones... OR fern-gully.. Which ever you think suits it best. Turns out its perfect and everyone is in love with this outdoor cathedral even those not so enthralled by the wedding planning process! The property has an tranquil feel and is the perfect place to feel connected to nature.
The ceremony site has accessible power for lights and sound equipment. You can dress it up or keep with the natural theme either way is gorgeous! Go totally glam or DIY; pinterest it up!
We have two rooms for each side of the party to prepare before the walk down the aisle. We have the tree top suite usually reserved for the brides with an outdoor deck amongst the trees and a secondary space for the other half of the wedding party.
At present offer afternoon cocktail receptions with a forest space for snacks and lawn games or a tented area.
We currently aren't offering planning services but we do offer day of coordination as an add on to our packages.
Close to the Sooke prestige hotel, the East Sooke community hall, Metchosin Community hall and other reception and lodging locations. Closely located to East Sooke park for other photography options and can also offer Photography services with Rivkah Photography, who lives on the property and grew up here and whos photos you see featured on the site.

At present we are offering solely the wedding ceremony venue, seating for over 100, and reception site with an all weather base for our hex tent which offers 1000sqft of space to hold your cocktail reception. Alternatively we have a forested cocktail and games area which is nestled into the forest and features a rustic wooden bar and Barcelona cart for charcuterie or snacks. Two private spaces for final touches and quiet composure.
We’ve had some beautiful receptions on the property, tented and open air. Please see the photos in our gallery.
You will need to make your own arrangements for your tent, catering and bar facilities. You're welcome to do it yourself or arrange professional services to make your special day perfect.
The site can be beautiful natural or styled to your own perfect vision.
Ceremony inclusions;
5 different arches to chose from
16 bench seats that will accommodate 100 guests,
16 aisle hooks for decor, 6 carriage lamps.
Signing table and chair.
Power and water at the site.
2 Getting ready rooms,
With fridge, sink, tea & coffee making equipment & microwave.
Ladies bathroom. unisex bathroom.
Parking for 20 cars, with parking assistants and passes.
Signage; welcome to the wedding of ....., ceremony, parking, toilets etc.
Numerous spots for beautiful photography.
On site coordination Staff throughout.
Accessibility
The ceremony and reception sites are both accessible.
We also have a golf cart to transport individuals needing assistance with walking to or from the ceremony site. Our driveway is quite steep for some.
Local information
East Sooke, Sooke and Metchosin have community halls with kitchens that can be rented and used for receptions.
East Sooke has many beautiful B&B’s for accommodation close by.
The nearest hotels are in Sooke, the Prestige, or Langford which also offer reception and accommodation options.

The idea Woman/Photographer
Becca is a wedding photographer at Rivkah Photography and lover of all things wedding. She grew up on the property and has used it for many photo shoots in the past many of which have been published. The idea to make the property a wedding venue came after noticing there was a call for this type of magical ceremony venue in the woods. The property has an amazing feel that makes everyone instantly comfortable and at peace and Becca feels like sharing this is the best option.

Sarah is the owner and has been the main tender of the property over the years. Growing the love and the aesthetics of the land constantly. Recently retired she was excited to jump on board to be a part of making peoples most important day that much better. Out in the dirt clearing paths and ceremony site, pouring love into the project; she is excited to see what our clients for 2019 have in store for this magical land!

The Braun/"Yes" men.
The boys agree, "Yes dear" , that this is a wonderful opportunity to have our property provide wonderful experiences to people all over. They help up with all the hard work and Bruce even offers traditional first nations sweats on the property so long as the fire ban isn't on. It is a beautiful healing ceremony and we can't wait to extend that to those who are interested. Usually healing sweats are on the new moon and full moon.

Rivkah Photography is our in house photographer. Rebecca is an award winning, internationally published photographer who also happens to live at Cedar Haven. She grew up here and she knows the property well and is responsible for most of the photography you see on the site. She is one of the founding members of the wedding venue. She is often booked one or two seasons in advance but contact her to see if your date is available.
